IYENGAR YOGA CERTIFICATION

The Iyengar Yoga certification process is considered the “gold standard” of Yoga teaching credentials. It is very strict, ensuring a well trained instructor in the Yogic approaches of practice and philosophy. Future teachers confirm their dedication through a minimum of 3 years as students + 3 years teacher training.

Teacher training includes the study of anatomy, physiology, philosophy and practical teaching methods. Certification candidates undergo an evaluation process that includes the presentation of a “mentor” teacher and a three-part examination; future teachers must demonstrate competence in Asana performance, teaching and take a written exam of philosophy and anatomy. The evaluation is held by an external commission composed of Senior level teachers.

At the end of this minimum 6 years you are eligible to Introdoctory level only. The training and evaluation process continues with more advanced standards and programs for additional levels of certification & knowledge.
