Iyengar yoga

A method based on “knowing what you are doing”. The diversity of sequences and choices of postures leads the practitioner to “understand the puzzle”, prevents injuries and promotes a long term healthy practice. Iyengar Yoga is often associated with precision and alignment because “the point of the iceberg” is the most visible part before you know more.

BKS Iyengar is widely credited as the most influential Yoga teacher for a.o. his ground breaking & most comprehensive compendium book, Light on Yoga. Mr. Iyengar is also the person who developed Yoga props such as walls with ropes, belts, blocks, blankets etc ; which make the proper sensations and results accessible to all practitioners.

Mr Iyengar was appointed by Time Magazine as 1 of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century for being the one who made Yoga known in the West. Yet the Iyengar school & method remains a “well kept secret” simply because to become a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher is a consequent, rich learning process which takes a minimum of 6 years of practice.
